The St Mark’s Church bell has been rehung this week, and was sounding again on Wednesday. It had been in a dangerous condition with rusted fittings nearly eaten through with the corrosion. Fortunately it was caught in time, before it came tumbling down, perhaps even through the roof of the church itself. Anyway, thanks to the architect, contractors and a considerable amount of paperwork by Margaret Chinchen, as Churchwarden, the scaffolding is down, and the bell of St Mark’s rings again. Let us hope that it is not long before it calls us back to worship together within its walls!
