This year, all of the Churches in Swanage and Studland, in company with those in the rest of the country, are struggling to create services that are celebratory for the season of Advent and the festival of Christmas under the restrictions that are by now familiar to us all. Some churches are going entirely on-line, others are managing limiting numbers and meeting in Church buildings, others again are trying a mixture, as the technology supports the physical presence, either for recording worship or in live streaming.
The need to have some live singing is felt by us all, but is hard to accomplish, as congregations cannot sing at the moment. Choirs, socially distanced may sing for us, and St Mary’s has managed to get back into choral services once again, though in a reduced capacity. It has allowed us to create something for the town of Swanage, however, and to manage a Christmas Carol Service that can be attended by members of churches and organisations in Swanage, and be live-streamed to whoever wishes to watch. The link for this service is on the homepage of this website and will go live at 6.15 p.m. on Sunday 20th December, with the service beginning at 6.30 p.m. The Mayor of Swanage is to give the town a Christmas message during the service - and I expect that I shall say a few words as well!
We look forward to it - do log-in on the day. The link is https://youtu.be/-_eoeMw1akI
