Remembrance Sunday tomorrow is to be different from past years, with restrictions in place, and no Church services. We are able to use our on-line resources once more in the morning, but at the War Memorial in the afternoon there is to be The Royal British Legion of Swanage’s Act of Remembrance. Only a few people are to gather physically at the war Memorial, in order that we can manage things with social distancing, and most of the wreaths are to be laid before the short ceremony begins.
We are being asked by the Royal British Legion, to stand on our doorsteps at home and observe two minutes silence at 3.00 p.m. The tenor bell at St Mary’s is to toll twelve times to warn us of the beginning of the silence - and will toll again at the end of the silence. You may view the short service at the Swanage War Memorial by going to the Swanage News website at 2.50 p.m. on Sunday, and on its FaceBook page, and you should be able to see the service and wreath-laying as a live-streamed event.
