The cover photo and strap-line for the 2020 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which begins tomorrow
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2020 begins officially tomorrow and runs until Saturday of next week. In Swanage we are having our United Service on the day after it ends, i.e. 26th January, and we hold our weekday prayers on just five of the eight days, namely Monday 20th to Friday 24th January. Many churches across the country will adapt themselves according to what seems to be good locally.
So the arrangements are:
Monday to Friday in Swanage Methodist Church 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. (coffee on arrival) daily prayers led by members of The Wave.
Sunday 26th January in Emmanuel Baptist Church at 10.30 a.m., a Service of Christian Unity with the theme very much related to the sea. As we think of The Wave and our seaside town of Swanage, the material produced by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland which focuses on St Paul’s shipwreck on Malta, and we are drawn to consider what is the overarching thought this year, which is taken from Acts chapter 28 verse 2: As Paul and his companions were offered Unusual Kindness by the Maltese people who welcomed this distressed people to their island.
