On Sunday 4th November at 6.0pm we shall be joined, as usual on the first Sunday, by extra singers from across the Purbeck area who enjoy augmenting our regular choir to sing Choral Evensong. On this occasion, the service is a special one to remember friends and relatives who have died, and therefore we shall be singing some reflective music to compliment the theme of the service.
Gabriel Faure’s beautiful Requiem Mass will be represented by two movements - the ever-popular “Pie Jesu” and the hauntingly beautiful “In Paradisum”. The choir will also sing Henry’s Purcell’s moving anthem “Thou Knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts”. The service will end with John Rutter’s setting of the Gaelic blessing, “Deep peace of the running waves to you....”
The choir will be directed on this occasion by David Fawcett. “
