Parish Fete ~ Thank You

2018 Grand Parish fete

On behalf of the Fete planning group may I say a very sincere thank you to all who played a part whether small or large, in making the 2018 Grand Parish Fete last Saturday such a success with so many generously contributing goods and items for the stallholders to sell on their stalls and, we were so pleased and grateful to have Mike Bonfield, the Mayor of Swanage open the Fete for us and for giving up his precious time.

A special thank you to the stallholders and their helpers who worked hard sorting and displaying the goods and items for sale and decorating their stalls and sideshows; many selling out of items before the close. Thank you too to Ilene, Paul and Jean in the ‘counting’ department for their hard work in counting part of the proceeds and to the Rector and Rosemary who contributed to that process during the afternoon.

A thank you too to the small group of helpers who from 8.30am, started to erect the gazebos (no easy task) and to Berno, our Youth Minister for putting out the tables and chairs for the stallholders; all working so hard to have everything ready for the arrival of the stallholders and then returning to dismantle it all, as the Fete closed. Thanks also must go to the many who, behind the scenes, provided equipment for the Fete and worked tirelessly, (often unseen) throughout the day.

My grateful thanks too, to Gerry and Maureen Bayliss for not only supplying the two roadside banners but also for erecting them on the two main roads into Swanage, also to Swanage Railway for allowing a banner to be displayed on their premises and to Karon, in the Parish Office, for her help with printing the many flyers and posters for the Fete.

Finally, a very sincere thank you to our Rector John for not only his support and encouragement but for how he worked so tirelessly not only on the day of the Fete but also on the evening before, to Helen his wife for all the help that she gave and lastly, my grateful thanks to the fellow members of the Fete group which included the Rector, for without their support and help the success of the Fete could not have been achieved.

The Fete has raised to date £4006 and with the promise of more to come. A wonderful and fantastic achievement!

Thank you – Margaret Chinchen
