Sunday 24th April saw the service marking the 150th anniversary of St Mark's Church Herston. It was a very special occasion! The sun shone, the singing was good, the Bishop's sermon inspired us all, and the themes of thanksgiving for what has been, celebration of what we are, and anticipation of what is to come, were to the fore. The commitment to what what is needed from here was accepted by the assembled Church in days that are presenting challenges in all our communities, not least in Herston. Having the gift of David Richards' ministry at this new juncture is an opportunity that we are embracing with prayer and thanksgiving to God.
May Christ's blessing be upon David and his wife Carol, and upon Anne Roper and John Way as churchwardens and the whole congregation of St Mark's, as we give thanks for the huge contribution that Margaret Chinchen has made to the Church over the years as churchwarden, as she steps down from this role.
