Wave News - Summer 2018
To our Wave Friends, Supporters and Volunteers, We hope you like our new logo….the Team are very proud of it.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Summer BBQ on June 16th. Thank you for coming, and we hope you had fun. It seems strange in the throes of our present heatwave to have been wondering whether it would have to have been indoors due to inclement weather, but the rain stopped, the sky cleared, the sun came out and over 60 of us enjoyed burgers, sausages and good company.
It has been a very full and active term for both Wave youth and Wave kids. As well as the regular groups, Berno, Rich and Hannah took 10 youngsters to the Big Church Day Out over the May Bank Holiday weekend….a very positive and encouraging experience for all, and we pray these young people continue to deepen their faith and love in Jesus.
Schools work in both teams is going very well too. The Christian Unions have regular attendees and The Swanage School has asked for help with student mentoring.
Rob regularly takes Assemblies in the primary schools and also helps with some lunchtime and in-school activities. At present he is getting preparations under way for the Holiday Club to be run at Emmanuel Baptist Church August 6th-10thand the Wave youth team are getting set for the Wave Camp from August 28th-31st . They would all be really happy to talk to you about any of their ventures.
As with all things in all phases of life nothing stays the same, and the Wave is no exception. Certain activities have not been as successful as others so a rethink has taken place as the best way forward to reach particular groups of our youngsters. From September 2018 the Wave will be entering a new phase, which is both exciting and rather challenging, and a presentation of the WAVE 2018/2019 will be on 22nd July at the URC. The URC leaders have kindly allowed the Wave to take the morning service, giving us an opportunity to point the way forward to a new phase of the work. We’ll also have our fantastic new Wave brochure ready to give each church member, showing how members can be involved, through prayer, volunteering and giving. We will then be presenting it in the other churches.
Following our intern reviews, Kyle will be moving to carry out Children’s and Youth Ministry work in Fordingbridge. We thank him for all his hard work and will miss his enthusiasm. We wish him well as he continues on his way.
Bethany has decided that being an intern with us through SWYM is not her calling at this time and so will not be following that path.. The very good news is that she is planning to stay in Swanage and will still be continuing her work but as a volunteer.
